Mystic Seaport Museum is hosting a summer lineup of special events and movie screenings inspired by its current exhibition, Brickwrecks: Sunken Ships in LEGO Bricks.

The exhibition is on view now in the Stillman Building. It features a mix of maritime history, archaeology, and environmental storytelling. Visitors can interact with a remote operated vehicle (ROV) simulator, test ship stability, explore underwater archaeology science, and participate in hands-on building activities.

“Brickwrecks has sparked an incredible sense of curiosity and creativity among our visitors,” said Chris Freeman, President and CEO of Mystic Seaport Museum. “Families are not only discovering fascinating stories of shipwrecks and maritime archaeology, but they’re also building, exploring, and learning together in ways that feel imaginative, hands-on, and genuinely fun.”

To complement the exhibition, the museum scheduled several public programs and family events throughout the season.

A LEGO Brickumentary Screening On Sunday, June 21, from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m., the museum will screen A LEGO Brickumentary in the Meeting House. The documentary explores the cultural impact and global appeal of LEGO bricks. Registration is not required for the Father’s Day weekend screening, but seating is limited. Visitors can view the Brickwrecks exhibition before or after the film.

Bricks Ahoy! and Outdoor Screening of The LEGO Movie A full day of hands-on activities takes place on Saturday, July 11 during Bricks Ahoy! The daytime programming includes building activities, hidden minifigure hunts, visits with Newfoundland dogs, and access to the Brickwrecks exhibition.

The evening features a live improv show followed by an outdoor screening of The LEGO Movie on the Village Green at sundown. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs to the Village Green.

Charles W. Morgan Birthday Weekend The museum will celebrate the birthday of the Charles W. Morgan, the world’s last wooden whaleship, on Saturday, July 18. The day includes a collaborative mosaic art activity from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with ConnLUG, an organization of teen and adult fans of LEGO.

Other scheduled activities include Brick Bingo, toy boat building, making birthday cards for the ship, watching the Whale Ho! presentation, and birthday cake.

Daily Brick Bingo Visitors can participate in Brick Bingo daily throughout the run of the exhibition. Guests can pick up a bingo card at the museum entrance and search the Seaport Village for hidden LEGO minifigures as a self-guided activity.

All featured summer events and the exhibition are included with general museum admission and are free for museum members. Tickets and the full event schedule are available on the Mystic Seaport Museum website.
