Sasha Bratt named new co-artistic director at Playhouse on Park

Playhouse Theatre Group is entering a new phase of artistic leadership as the organization prepares for its 18th season. Co-Founder and Co-Artistic Director Sean Harris will transition into the role of Artistic Advisor. Local director Sasha Bratt will step into the leadership vacancy, joining long-time Co-Founder and Artistic Director Darlene Zoller as the new Co-Artistic Director.

Harris co-founded the professional theatre group and its subsidiaries, Playhouse on Park and Playhouse Theatre Academy, in 2009 alongside Zoller and Executive Director Tracy Flater. During his 17 seasons at the helm, Harris directed numerous local productions. His directing credits include Metamorphoses, Passing Strange, Angels in America, Cabaret, Hair, Danny and the Deep Blue Sea, A Chorus Line, and Of Mice and Men.

Harris noted that the organization built a welcoming space for artists over the last 18 years. He stated that he will remain creatively connected to the theatre to support the leadership transition. Executive Director Tracy Flater acknowledged Harris’s contributions to the growth of the organization, noting that he will continue to shape their future through his new advisory capacity.

Bratt assumes the role of Co-Artistic Director starting next season. Based in Hartford, he has over two decades of experience in directing, teaching, and new work development throughout the Northeast. His previous work with Playhouse on Park includes an eight-year tenure as Director of New Works, where he launched the “Playwrights on Park” New Play Reading Series. He also directed the company’s productions of All Is Calm in 2025 and Gutenberg! The Musical in 2026.

In his new position, Bratt will collaborate with Zoller and Flater to manage the company’s artistic direction. Bratt holds a Master of Fine Arts in Directing, a Master’s in Theater Education, and a Doctorate in Education with a focus on Leadership Studies. He is also an associate member of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society.

Playhouse Theatre Group was established to provide professional theatre performances at an affordable cost to the Greater Hartford community. The West Hartford company utilizes professional actors, playwrights, and designers alongside regional and New York City directors.
