The Downtown Milford Business Association has announced the return of the Fair on the Half Shell, a long-running coastal summer festival celebrating the culture of the Connecticut shoreline. The single-day regional event is scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The gathering will take place on the historic Milford Green, located at 84 Broad Street, continuing a local tradition that spans more than 50 years.

Sponsored by United Illuminating, an Avangrid company, this year’s outdoor festival is set to host more than 300 coastal artisans and independent merchants. The layout also incorporates over 20 gourmet food trucks offering diverse selections of seafood-inspired dishes alongside traditional summer snacks. Educational environmental exhibits focusing on shoreline heritage and regional ecological stewardship will be integrated throughout the venue grounds.

The family-friendly grounds will feature dedicated children’s entertainment sections, including localized bounce houses, face painting stations, and professional caricature artists. Visitors can also participate in interactive target-throwing activities arranged across the common areas. Association representatives noted that the annual gathering regularly brings together thousands of residents, regional businesses, and visiting families from across Connecticut and New York.

To mark the festival’s return, the organizing association is launching a digital promotional giveaway for prospective attendees. Individuals who add the event listing to their personal digital calendars using the official registration link will be entered into a drawing for a curated regional prize package. The prize distribution includes custom event apparel, localized artisan gifts, and gift cards valid at various downtown businesses.

The public festival is free to attend and sits two blocks away from both the Milford Metro-North train station and Milford Harbor. The central downtown location is accessible by train, car, or boat, and is situated a short driving distance from Interstate 95 and the Merritt Parkway.
