Weston History & Culture Center to host Revolutionary War encampment May 16

Join the 5th CT Regiment for a Colonial Encampment. Travel back in time to the Revolution and experience living history on Saturday, May 16, 2026. Stop in anytime between 10am – 4pm to the Weston History & Culture Center.

The Weston History & Culture Center will host a colonial encampment featuring the 5th CT Regiment on Saturday, May 16, as part of the town’s America 250 celebration.

The event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 104 Weston Road, offers attendees the opportunity to experience life during the Revolutionary War through a series of live demonstrations and interactive exhibits. Admission to the family-friendly event is free.

Scheduled highlights throughout the day include soldier drills with musket firing at 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., a Revolutionary War fashion show at 1 p.m., and a children’s musket drill and march at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.

In addition to military displays, the encampment will feature all-day demonstrations of colonial-era trades and domestic skills, including blacksmithing, wool spinning, outdoor cooking, and woodworking. Specialized exhibits will feature a Revolutionary War surgeon, a marine, and an axe and tool display presented by the American Axe Preservation Society.

The historic Coley House will be open for guided tours, and visitors can explore the “Sarah Treadwell: Connecticut Mom & American Patriot” exhibit along with the “Weston at Work” interactive display.

Lunch and refreshments will be available for purchase from JR’s Food Truck and Skip’s Ice Cream from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The event is held rain or shine, with parking available on-site and on the street. Funding for the program is provided by the Weston History & Culture Center and the Weston America 250 Advisory Group. Complete event information is available at the Weston History & Culture Center.
