Iconic guitarist and longtime Weston resident Keith Richards, along with bandmates Mick Jagger and Ronnie Wood, announced the upcoming release of a new Rolling Stones studio album, Foreign Tongues, during a media launch in Brooklyn on Tuesday.

The 14-track album is scheduled for release on July 10 through Polydor/Universal Music. It follows the band’s Grammy Award-winning 2023 project, Hackney Diamonds.

Richards, who has been a cornerstone of the legendary rock group since its inception in 1962, noted that the new material carries the momentum from their recent recordings.

“The Foreign Tongues album has a continuity from Hackney Diamonds and it was great to be working in London again, and to have that London vibe around us,” Richards said. “It was a month of concentrated punch. To me, it’s all about the enjoyment of it. I’m blessed to be able to do this and long may it last.”

The band released the lead single “In the Stars” digitally on Tuesday to coincide with the announcement. The album was recorded in less than a month at Metropolis Studios in West London with producer Andrew Watt.

The project features a special appearance by the late Charlie Watts, recorded prior to his passing in 2021, as well as contributions from Paul McCartney, Steve Winwood, Robert Smith, and Chad Smith.

“The atmosphere in the room was so creative, and the whole band was on top form throughout the whole process,” Wood said. “Very often we nailed it on the first take.”

Foreign Tongues will be available in multiple formats, including CD, cassette, and various vinyl editions featuring artwork by American artist Nathaniel Mary Quinn.
