University of Bridgeport art gallery to open international exhibition this June

The Schelfhaudt Gallery at the University of Bridgeport will open a new international art exhibition titled “Between Universes” on June 11, 2026. The exhibition explores themes related to the cosmos, isolation, and human potential. It will run through August 31, 2026, at the gallery facility located at 505 University Avenue in Bridgeport.

The exhibit is an international curatorial collaboration organized by Taiwan-based curator Su-Min Yang, U.S.-based curator Peter Schelfhaudt, and U.S.-based Taiwanese artist Eric Chiang. It features the specific artwork of Taiwanese artists Chuang Chih-Hui and Eric Chiang. The presented pieces are rooted in Taiwanese philosophical and artistic heritage, focusing heavily on how the mind, body, and environment shape human perception.

According to Peter Schelfhaudt, the primary goal of the project is to present artwork from this heritage while exploring the interplay between inner human experiences and outer reality.

Opening night on June 11 will feature a reception from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. This public event includes the world premiere of a musical composition, also titled “Between Universes,” composed by Eric Chiang. Following the opening festivities, the gallery will host a scheduled art talk with the exhibiting artists on June 18 at 6:00 p.m.
