Sun and Soul Fest returns in June

The Connecticut Sun will host its second biennial Sun and Soul Fest next month, bringing live entertainment, food partners, and community activities to the Mohegan Sun Patio.

The outdoor event is scheduled for Sunday, June 14, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The gathering serves as the opening event for a week of Juneteenth festivities and the organization’s celebration of Black Music History Month. It leads up to the team’s Celebrate Juneteenth night on June 19, when the Sun play the Toronto Tempo at the Mohegan Sun Arena.

The festival lineup features live performances led by singer-songwriter Janice Smith. Connecticut Sun in-house DJ Meechi will provide music alongside a performance roster that includes Neta Nicole, Ada Mae, Bri, Frank Colmenares, and Jeremiah Ledesma.

Activities on the patio include line dancing, interactive competitions, card tables, dominoes, and yard games. The team’s promotional group, the Shine Squad, will appear alongside the team mascot, Blaze.

Local food and beverage vendors will operate on-site throughout the afternoon. Confirmed partners include Sandra’s Next Generation, Scatz Holy Smokes BBQ, Kona Ice, and the Mohegan Coca-Cola Truck. A cash bar will also be open for attendees aged 21 and older.

The organization is holding a cash-only raffle featuring five prizes. Available items include courtside game tickets, a Lux Bond Green gift card, and a signed team item. Raffle tickets cost $1 each, and automated teller machines are accessible inside the adjacent casino.

Admission to the festival is open to the public, with a suggested $10 donation to benefit the Connecticut Sun Foundation. While entry does not require a donation, attendees who contribute can access specific tier packages.

The donation packages are organized into three tiers:

Sun Package ($10): Includes event entry and a festival wristband.
Soul Package ($20): Includes entry, a wristband, and a festival shirt.
Legacy Package ($30): Includes entry, a wristband, a festival shirt, and a team swag kit.

Festival merchandise will not be sold for cash on-site. Attendees must use the official FEVO registration link to secure wristbands, shirts, or swag kits based on their chosen donation level. Organizers encourage advanced online registration, though walk-up guests will be permitted entry.
