New on the Shop: The Love Collection
First, I want to say I am really excited to share this new collection. When I first started designing Connecticut merchandise, I knew I wanted to create a collection inspired by the iconic “I Love NY” logo and the famous “LOVE” statue. I have seen where people have tried to mimic the “I Love NY” design for other states, and it just didn’t work out. I didn’t want to copy it directly, but I did want it to be a part of my inspiration.
Ideas for this collection have been in the back of my mind for the last few years. I recently had an opportunity to explore those ideas, from typography and color schemes to mixing different design concepts and introducing a four-letter, old-school postal abbreviation format.
I Heart Connecticut

My main inspiration for this piece was the “I Love NY” logo. After studying that design and deciding against stacking the letters, I chose to make it a direct statement: a clean typographic sentence that uses a heart graphic to say, “I ❤️ Connecticut.” The only major similarity to the original inspiration is the typography. I have been using the American Typewriter font for social media posts since launching my pages in 2020. It fits perfectly here because, with Finding Connecticut, I am telling the stories of the good things I find across the state. Click here to view the collection.
Connecticut Vision
With this design, I wanted something vertical that filled the design space. A single or two-column layout didn’t feel like enough, and a four or five-column setup wasn’t long enough. I also knew I wanted the text to be thick and bold. As I was working on it, I noticed the final layout looked like an eye chart, which is exactly why it is called Vision. 41 Tilt Connecticut
The “LOVE” statue by Robert Indiana was the driving inspiration for this design. I set the Connecticut text in electric license plate blue and made the “O” red, grouping the text tightly so the letters look like they are touching. The “O” is tilted at 41 degrees, rather than the 45-degree tilt used in the original statue. The main challenge was adapting this for towns without an “O” in their name, where I instead aimed to use a defining sound from the town’s name. The 41 degrees is also an ode to Connecticut’s latitude line. Click here to view collection.
Connecticut Love
My goal for this design was actually to highlight individual towns. I wanted to introduce a four-letter, no-vowel abbreviation format to the shop. I ran into a few hiccups with some of the specific town layouts, but the main Connecticut design serves as an ode to the old-school “Conn.” state abbreviation. Each town is listed out in the background of the design. Click here to view the collection.
Love Connecticut
For this piece, I wanted a stacked, two-line layout where the “O” in love is replaced with a heart, with Connecticut (or the specific town name) sitting directly below it. Click here to view the collection.
I also wanted to create designs that paired perfectly with a ringer tee, and I feel like both the “I Heart” and “Vision” layouts fit that specific vintage vibe perfectly.
