Lyman Orchards will celebrate its 285th anniversary with a two-day festival May 16-17, highlighting the farm’s long-standing role as a family-owned agricultural destination in Connecticut.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the orchard’s Apple Barrel Farm Market and surrounding grounds in Middlefield. Organizers said the festival will feature live music, food trucks, horse-drawn wagon rides, and a petting farm, along with other family-friendly activities.

Founded in 1741, Lyman Orchards spans more than 1,100 acres and includes farmland, orchards, golf courses, and a farm market. The anniversary event is intended to celebrate the farm’s history and its connection to the local community.

“Reaching 285 years is an incredible milestone for our family and our farm,” said John Lyman, executive vice president of Lyman Orchards, in a statement. “This festival is a way for us to celebrate that legacy with the community that has supported us for generations.”

Admission to the festival is free. Organizers said activities and vendors are subject to change and encouraged visitors to check the orchard’s website for updated event information.
