Fairfield University and Fairfield Theatre Company announce arts partnership

Fairfield University and Fairfield Theatre Company have announced a new arts and education partnership. The collaboration formalizes a relationship between the two organizations that dates back 25 years, when FTC presented its first season on campus at the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts in 2001.

Under the new arrangement, Fairfield University will serve as the exclusive Arts and Education Partner of FTC. The collaboration pairs FTC’s role as a nonprofit producer of live entertainment, theatre, film, and cultural programming with the university’s arts resources, including the Quick Center and the Fairfield University Art Museum.

The initiative aims to expand opportunities for students through direct engagement with professional artists, hands-on involvement in cultural programming, and exposure to nonprofit management. For the public, the arrangement is intended to provide broader access to regional performance, educational, and cultural events.

“This partnership is rooted in something Fairfield University has always believed: that education does not stop at the classroom door, and that the arts are among our most powerful ways of learning, imagining, questioning, connecting, and becoming more fully human,” said Dr. Christine Siegel, University Provost.

The announcement aligns with the university’s development of its Center for Arts & Minds and the formation of a new Division of Arts and Culture. Matt Malone will take on the role of inaugural vice president for arts and culture on October 19, 2026, to oversee campus-wide artistic initiatives.

“This really is a full-circle moment for Fairfield Theatre Company,” said Patsy Fox, executive director of FTC. Fox noted that the agreement creates opportunities to expand future productions, educational programs, and community connections between the organization and the university.
