Editors note: Lewiston Shootings
Proceeds from Finding Connecticut Shop will be donated to the victims of New England’s largest mass shooting since Sandy Hook
Let me start off by saying, I never expected to write something like this. If you are an OG reader then you know my story of how the Finding’s pages came alive. You also know I have ties to Maine – specifically to the Auburn/Lewiston area. I was born there, I lived and worked, and have friends and family in the area.
When a family member calls you and asks “Are you following what is going on in Lewiston?” – It’s never a good thing. At the time I was relying on what was going on social media, which was random shootings throughout the city including various restaurants and the Walmart Distribution Center. At the time Maine local news was not reporting anything, but I kept my eye out. 45 minutes later it was the beginning of a very long 50 hours. Including shock, confusion, and a lot of messages asking what was going on.
On Friday I was talking to my cousin who lives in Lewiston and told her I want to help and was trying to figure out what I would do. I mean it’s a bit weird to post on social media with a target audience in Connecticut that I’m designing shirts to help raise money for the shooting victim’s families in the Lewiston/Auburn & Lisbon communities. Here is what I decided to do, I do have a Maine Collection, and all proceeds of the Maine Collection will be donated to the victims’ families. If you decide to purchase Connecticut items and want the proceeds to be donated then contact me (jillian <at> findingconnecticut dot com) with your order number and I will make sure the funds get donated. You can also send a donation directly via PayPal or venmo (@findingconnecticut).
Lewiston has been in my life for my entire 41 years. There are no words to explain what happened in Lewiston this past week. I send my love and gratitude to their community and remind them that they are #lewistonstrong.
Thank you,
Jillian
