The Gunn Museum has announced a historical lecture focusing on early turnpikes and local transportation history, scheduled for Oct. 17, 2026, at 10 a.m. The event will take place at the historic Logan Family Homestead in Washington, Connecticut.

The presentation will cover the history of early Connecticut roads, turnpikes, and stagecoach routes, as well as the history of the Logan family’s historic inn. Speakers for the program include Washington residents Steve Solley and Kenyon Clark, along with museum curator Amy Campanaro.

John and Margaret Logan originally settled in Judea, which is now known as Washington, in 1738 before constructing their family home in 1748. During the 1800s, the homestead operated as the Inn of the Rising Sun, serving travelers along the turnpike route between New Haven and Albany.

The property remains under the ownership of the Logan family as a private residence. Due to space constraints, museum organizers require advance registration for all individuals planning to attend the morning presentation.

The Gunn Museum operates at 5 Wykeham Road in Washington, holding regular visitor hours on Thursdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Additional information and registration details are available through the museum’s administrative office.
