Music Theatre of Connecticut is launching a summer performance series ahead of its 40th MainStage Season. The lineup, titled Hot Summer Nights, features award-winning local, New York City, and Broadway talent. Performances will take place on select Saturday nights at 8:00 p.m. from June through August at the theater, located at 509 Westport Avenue in Norwalk.

The series opens on June 20 with Frank Mastrone & Friends. The opening night includes an ensemble of performers such as jazz vocalist Richard “Cookie” Thomas, singer and guitarist Dodie Petit, and violinist Darwin Shen. A full band led by Mathew Stolfi will back the performance. Audiences can expect Broadway selections, American Songbook standards, and classic hits from artists like The Beatles, Joni Mitchell, James Taylor, and Don McLean.

On July 11, the series continues with the John Arden Music Dueling Pianos performance. This event centers on sing-along favorites by Billy Joel, Elton John, and The Beatles. The setlist features traditional dueling piano staples, including “Piano Man,” “Sweet Caroline,” and “Don’t Stop Believin’.”

Broadway and cabaret artist Christine Andreas will take the stage on July 18 for a performance titled S’Wonderful. The evening highlights music from icons of the Great American Songbook. Featured composers include Gershwin, Berlin, Bacharach, Lerner, and Rodgers & Hart.

The August calendar begins with Nic & Desi: Broadway to Hollywood on August 1. Stars Nicolas Dromard and Desiree Davar are both theater alumni who previously appeared in local productions of The Last Five Years and Cabaret. Their performance blends vocals and choreography to celebrate Broadway and classic Hollywood musicals.

On August 8, Ann Kittredge and Norwalk native Raissa Katona Bennett present Katona & Kittredge: Key Changes. The show combines storytelling and song, drawing from pop, Broadway, and the Great American Songbook. Both performers hold Broadway credits, including roles in The Phantom of the Opera, Cats, Parade, A Christmas Carol, and King David.

The series concludes on August 15 with Cracks and All, a one-woman show by Randye Kaye. Developed at the local theater, the performance uses personal narrative to explore themes of resilience and humor. Kaye is known as a WSHU Public Radio host, voice actor, author, and podcast co-host.

Tickets for all performances are $63, which includes all applicable fees. Purchases can be completed online through the theater’s website or by contacting the box office directly at (203) 454-3883. Regular box office hours run Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
