Milford Public Library announces June event schedule for adults and families

The Milford Public Library has released its event schedule for the upcoming summer season. The library will host a collection of workshops, film screenings, support groups, and cultural presentations throughout June and early July 2026.

The monthly film programming features Tuesday Movie Matinees at 2:00 p.m. inside the library. The schedule includes a screening of Stand By Me on June 9 and The Princess Bride on June 23.

Community workshops begin on Wednesday, June 3 at 6:30 p.m. with an informational session titled “GenAI for Everyday Life.” Author Elisabeth Medaris will discuss her debut book, A Clever Girl’s Guide to Life with AI, which covers everyday practices for utilizing artificial intelligence. On Wednesday, June 10, the library will host an Abstract Art Workshop with Verónica Arias Art at 3:00 p.m. The adult session covers foundational techniques using both dry and wet mediums. Later that evening, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Milford Pride will host an all-ages Gayme Night with board games and social activities.

Support programming continues with “The Caring Network,” a grief support group organized by Bridges Healthcare on Monday, June 15 at 10:30 a.m. Facilitated by a professional counselor, the adult program covers the normal ranges of grief and mourning following a loss. Inquiries regarding the session can be directed to Brooke Torres at Bridges Healthcare.

The late June schedule highlights interactive performance and astronomy. Theater teacher Ingrid Schaeffer will lead an introductory Comedy Improv Slam on Tuesday, June 23 at 6:00 p.m. focusing on comedic sketches and character development. Advanced registration is required for the acting session. On Wednesday, June 24 at 6:30 p.m., the library will host “The Meteorite Collection of the Astronomical Society of New Haven.” Al Washburn, a retired earth science teacher and the society’s curator of meteorites, will discuss rock fragments, exhibit samples from private collections for attendees to touch, and conclude with a public Q&A session.

The summer schedule extends into early July with regional history and craft meet-ups. Musician Jim Lenn will present a historical performance titled “Almost Famous: The Southern California Music Scene of the Sixties and Seventies” on Wednesday, July 1 at 6:30 p.m. Lenn will perform music from the era and share his experiences from the South Bay music scene. Finally, local crafters are invited to the Milford Makers Meet-Up on Tuesday, July 7 at 6:00 p.m. to work on portable fiber arts projects alongside other residents.
