Avelo Airlines extends Tweed-New Haven holiday flight schedule into January

Local travelers can begin mapping out their winter travel plans earlier this year. Avelo Airlines announced an extension of its flight schedule out of Tweed-New Haven Airport, keeping booking lines open through January 5, 2027.

The extension is aimed at individuals planning winter vacations and holiday travel. Reservations for the extended timeline are currently available on the airline’s website.

“It’s time to start planning winter and holiday travel, and we are excited to extend Avelo’s New Haven flight schedule through early-January 2027,” said Trevor Yealy, Avelo Airlines Head of Commercial. Yealy noted that the extended schedule provides opportunities to book holiday vacations or weekend trips to more than 25 popular destinations.

Avelo currently operates 28 nonstop routes from the New Haven airport. These destinations cover a variety of regional choices, including Atlanta, Charleston, Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth, Nashville, San Juan, and several cities across Florida such as Fort Lauderdale, Key West, Orlando, and Tampa.

The airline launched operations on April 28, 2021, and has since carried more than 9.5 million passengers across 75,000 flights. Across its entire network, Avelo serves 34 destinations in 14 states and Puerto Rico, focusing its routes primarily on smaller, underserved community airports to bypass the congestion of major hubs.

Industry data from aviation data services company Anuvu ranked Avelo in the top three for on-time performance and low flight cancellation rates within the U.S. airline industry for 2025. Additionally, the carrier introduced a membership program called Avelo PLUS in the fall of 2025, which offers travelers benefits such as discounted fares and priority boarding.

The airline currently uses a fleet of Boeing Next Generation 737 aircraft. Looking ahead, the company has placed an order for up to 100 Embraer 195-E2 aircraft, with plans to become the first U.S. airline to fly them in 2028. Tweed-New Haven Airport serves as one of Avelo’s four current bases alongside airports in Delaware, Florida, and North Carolina, with a fifth base scheduled to open in North Dallas in late 2026.
