Main Street cruise night is scheduled for September in Middletown

Middletown’s signature car showcase will run on a new schedule this year. Chamber officials announced that the 29th Annual Cruise Night on Main Street is set for Wednesday, September 2, 2026.

Organizers coordinated with the City of Middletown to shift the event from its traditional timeline to early September. The date change aims to ease the impact on downtown merchants following a summer of frequent road closures. It also offers lower evening temperatures for the participating vintage vehicles and aligns with regional historical programming for America’s 250th Celebration.

“This annual family-friendly tradition showcases incredible vehicles, great music, fantastic food, and a wide array of vendors,” said Johanna Bond, President of the Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce. Bond stated that the chamber and its car cruise committee intend to utilize Main Street to host the event leading into Labor Day weekend.

The exhibition features hundreds of pre-2001 classic cars and trucks. Vehicles will park along both sides of Main Street, spanning the corridor from Washington Street down to the South Green. Spectators can view the vehicles from 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. while attending live musical performances and visiting local food vendors.

The annual gathering raises money for area kids through the Middletown Youth Programs, which includes the Middletown Summer Youth Employment Program. While public attendance is open, vehicle exhibitors are asked for a suggested 10 dollar donation. Participating drivers will enter a pool to win one of 20 sponsor awards distributed during the event.
