Webb Deane Stevens Museum Day
A family favorite returns to the Webb Deane Stevens Museum Saturday, May 25! Travel back in time and experience our Annual Revolutionary War Encampment, presented by the 5th Connecticut Regiment. Join us from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for a fun, educational immersion in the Colonial era.
The free festivities will begin on the Museum grounds immediately following the Town of Wethersfield Memorial Day Parade (please see traffic advisory below).
Event Schedule (rain or shine!)
10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Demonstrations throughout the day will include:
- Colonial music
- Surgeon’s table
- Open hearth cooking and food
- Flag displays and history programs
- Weaving and sewing
- Soldier’s tent and display of equipment
- Colonial clothing
- Butter churning
- Camp tours and information about the 5th Connecticut Regiment and its history
10:30 a.m. Musket and drill demonstration
11:00 a.m. Children’s march with wooden muskets
1:00 p.m. Battle skirmish with invading British Marines
1:30 p.m. Canon firing demonstration
Big Bear Trading Company
Big Bear Trading Company will be on site throughout the day selling jewelry, gear, and goods inspired by the 17th – 19th centuries.
PLEASE NOTE: All scheduled activities subject to change.
Regular Museum admission applies for guided house tours and access to exhibitions in the Holcombe Education Center and Kuckro Gallery.
Traffic Advisory
The Town of Wethersfield’s annual Memorial Day Parade will be held this Saturday, at 9:00 a.m. Please anticipate road closures starting at 8:30 a.m. in the areas of State Street, Hartford Avenue, Nott Street, Garden Street, Church Street, Main Street, and Marsh Street.
