Warner Theatre to host first Homeschool Open House featuring Victoria Kann

The Warner Theatre will host its first Homeschool Open House on Monday, April 27, 2026, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Warner Center for Arts Education, 99 City Hall Ave in Torrington.

Designed for homeschool families with students in prekindergarten through fifth grade, the event will introduce participants to the theater’s arts education programs through hands-on workshops, a behind-the-scenes tour, and a special appearance by children’s author Victoria Kann.

The morning will begin with a tour of the historic downtown Torrington theater, offering families a look at both the stage and backstage areas while highlighting the venue’s history. Organizers will also share information about arts education opportunities available to homeschool students, including theater classes and visual arts programming.

Students will rotate through workshops led by Warner master teaching artists, creating bookmarks, Pinkalicious-themed cupcakes, innovative textile notecards, and handmade journals. The event will conclude with an artistic share and showcase, allowing students to present their projects and connect with other homeschool families.

Kann, author and illustrator of the popular Pinkalicious series, will read from her book, answer questions, and pose for photos with attendees. Families may pre-order books to be signed during the meet-and-greet.

Light refreshments will be provided for student participants.

Tickets are $23 per student and include all workshop activities, refreshments, and two complimentary tickets to either “Pinkalicious” or “We Can Do It” as part of the theater’s Daytime Performance Series.
