Warner Theatre names Ron Utterbeck as new chair of the board of directors

The Warner Theatre announced that Ron Utterbeck has been appointed as the new chair of its board of directors. The appointment became effective on July 1, 2026. Utterbeck, who also sits on the board of directors for The Bushnell, succeeds Brian Mattiello in the leadership role.

Utterbeck previously served as senior vice president and chief information officer for Eversource. His professional background also includes senior technology leadership positions at The Hartford and General Electric, where he worked as a chief information officer in both the United States and China.

Mattiello steps down after serving as the chair of the theater’s board of directors since 2013. A lifelong Torrington resident, Mattiello has been involved with the venue since the mid-1990s. He was recently named president and chief executive officer of the Northwest CT Community Foundation.

The leadership transition comes as the Torrington venue prepares for its centennial in 2031. The theater is currently producing original work and developing immersive, technology-driven experiences. These initiatives are being supported through an ongoing administrative affiliation with The Bushnell.

David Fay, chief executive officer of The Bushnell, noted that Utterbeck provides strategic and technical experience as the organization heads toward its next chapter. Outgoing chair Mattiello expressed confidence in Utterbeck’s ability to sustain the strategies designed to carry the theater through its next century.
