Darius Taylor named Connecticut Sun General Manager

Morgan Tuck Assumes the Position of Assistant General Manager

Connecticut Sun

Today, the Connecticut Sun announced Darius Taylor as the franchise’s General Manager. Additionally, Connecticut Sun Director of Franchise Development, Morgan Tuck, will add the role of Assistant General Manager to her current responsibilities. Taylor and Tuck will work closely with Sun President, Jen Rizzotti, and recently appointed Head Coach, Stephanie White, to ensure the franchise’s continued success on the court.

“I’m excited to welcome Darius Taylor to the Connecticut Sun organization,” said Rizzotti. “His vast and diverse experiences in the game of women’s basketball make him a great choice to guide the short and long term vision here in Connecticut. Darius is known for his relationship building and his understanding of how positive culture impacts overall performance on and off the court. I’m looking forward to seeing his immediate impact on our team and staff. And Morgan has been a rising star. She is dedicated to personal and professional growth and has made a tremendous impact on our Community Relations department. Morgan was eager to learn more about the business side of basketball, and with her ability to relate to current and future players, sliding her into an assistant GM position seemed like a natural fit. I am proud to employ and develop former WNBA players in all aspects of our organization, and I look forward to watching Morgan grow under Darius’s guidance.”

Taylor joins the Sun after a stint with the Atlanta Dream, where he served in several roles throughout his time there as Assistant Coach, Interim Head Coach, and Assistant General Manager. During Taylor’s time at the Dream, he helped Atlanta secure the #1 pick in the 2022 WNBA Draft, selecting Rhyne Howard who earned WNBA Rookie of the Year. Prior to his time in Atlanta, Taylor served as an Assistant Coach under Dawn Staley, helping recruit the team that won South Carolina’s first NCAA National Championship. Taylor brings a unique and varied skillset to his new position, having spent time across many different aspects of the basketball world–as a player, as a Manager of Community and Player programs in the NBA’s Development League, and as an Assistant Director of Competitive Programs with USA Basketball.

“I am very proud to be a part of the Connecticut Sun, which for years has been one of the model organizations on and off the court in the WNBA,” Taylor remarked. “I’m also extremely excited about helping to empower such a talented group of women and people. I’d like to thank the Mohegan Tribal Council, Kevin Lowry, and Jen Rizzotti for the opportunity to help collectively lead this organization. I look forward to collaborating with our players and staff to continue and build on the winning tradition of this great organization.”

Tuck assumes the role of Assistant General Manager after joining the Connecticut Sun in a front office role in May of 2021 as the Director of Franchise Development. Prior to that, Tuck had spent five years as a player in the WNBA, spending four seasons with the Connecticut Sun, after being drafted by the franchise in 2016, and her last season with the Seattle Storm where she won a WNBA Championship in 2020. Tuck’s knowledge and experiences as a player for the Connecticut Sun will serve as a major strength as she takes a more active role in the basketball side of the Connecticut Sun front office.

“Having the opportunity to make my mark on the basketball side of the Sun is an awesome opportunity that I’m grateful for. There’s a lot to learn, but I’m excited for this next step of my career.” – Morgan Tuck, Connecticut Sun Director of Franchise Development and Assistant General Manager
