The Record Company Ready to Light Up Mohegan Sun’s Wolf Den with Gritty, Soulful Rock

The Record Company is bringing its signature blend of blues, rock, and raw energy to Mohegan Sun’s Wolf Den on Saturday, April 12. Known for their electrifying live shows and stripped-down, analog-driven sound, the Los Angeles-based trio is riding high off their latest release and poised to deliver a no-frills, all-thrills set.
Chris Vos, Alex Stiff and Marc Cazorla—the band’s founding members—have never been ones for excess. Since their formation in 2011, the trio has stuck to a less-is-more ethos, prioritizing gritty groove over polish and heart over spectacle. Their music, at once retro and immediate, pays homage to the past while cutting a modern path through the indie blues-rock scene.
Expect the unexpected, but also count on a setlist that leans heavily into the band’s most recent studio album, The 4th Album. Released in late 2023, the record marked a return to the group’s bluesy roots while also incorporating subtle new textures and storytelling layers. Songs like “Dance on Mondays” and “Talk to Me” show the band’s evolution: still gritty, still soulful, but now sharpened by over a decade of experience, growth and sonic experimentation.

For fans, The 4th Album was a reminder of everything they loved about The Record Company’s early work—and an invitation to explore new ground with them. Tracks like “Bad Light” and “Highway to Nowhere” have become staples of their recent sets, often stretching into extended jams that give Vos room to tear into his slide work and Stiff and Cazorla space to build a groove that pulses with raw urgency.
But longtime followers can also expect deep cuts from the band’s back catalog, including fan favorites from their Grammy-nominated debut, Give It Back to You. Songs like “Off the Ground” and “Rita Mae Young” haven’t lost their bite, and in a live setting, they take on new energy—louder, faster, sweatier.

The band’s sound has always existed in a kind of timeless zone, straddling the line between throwback and contemporary. Influences range from Muddy Waters to the early Rolling Stones, and while those inspirations are never hidden, they’re filtered through a distinctly modern lens. The result is music that feels both familiar and refreshing—like hearing something you swear you’ve known for years, even if it just came out last week.
In recent interviews, the trio has spoken about finding their creative groove again by returning to the way they used to record: together, in a room, live to tape. That back-to-basics approach helped fuel the sessions for The 4th Album and has reinvigorated their live sets. There’s a palpable sense of joy in the way they play now—joy mixed with hunger, sweat and the kind of deep-in-the-bones rhythm that can’t be faked.
This show at Mohegan Sun’s Wolf Den is one of several spring dates the band has lined up as they continue touring behind The 4th Album. It’s also part of what they describe as a “back-to-roots” push—playing venues that allow for closer connections with the audience, keeping things intimate and personal.
For fans, that’s good news. A band like The Record Company thrives in rooms where they can see the whites of your eyes, where the feedback buzzes just right and where the night can take an unpredictable turn at any moment.
And while they’ve shared stages with legends—opening for acts like John Mayer, Trombone Shorty and Social Distortion —there’s something undeniably special about seeing them do their thing in a setting that brings them back to where it all started: three guys, a pile of gear and a crowd ready to get loud.
In a music world dominated by synths, samples and auto-tune, The Record Company continues to bet on authenticity. No frills. No gimmicks. Just three musicians doing what they love, playing like it might be their last night on earth.
It’s blues. It’s rock. It’s soul. It’s sweaty and loud and real.
And come April 12, it’s coming to Mohegan Sun’s Wolf Den.
