The Maritime Aquarium will hold a sensory-friendly morning to accommodate guests with sensory-processing differences on Saturday, April 6 starting at 8 a.m.
“Ensuring our guests are met with inclusion and respect is a priority for us at the Aquarium,” said Vice President of Education Tom Naiman. “We hope this event reduces the stress for families looking to plan an outing, and allows them to explore all we have to offer in an accepting environment.”
All exhibits will be open to guests with lights dimmed and sounds turned down or off. There will also be showings of the Aquarium’s 4D films without the added sensory special effects.
Admission is discounted for this event. Adult tickets can be purchased for $19 and child tickets can be purchased for $14. If guests with special needs must leave within 30 minutes of their visit, the Aquarium will provide a ticket to return another day.
The Aquarium will open to the general public at 10 a.m. with lights and sounds returning to their normal levels. The Aquarium will also begin to celebrate harbor seal pup Sono’s first birthday at this time.
