The Maritime Aquarium and Linde Launch Scholarship Program
The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk ( 10 N Water St, Norwalk, CT 06854 ) and Linde are pleased to announce a new annual scholarship program that will provide three students with $3,500 to pursue degrees in the field of marine sciences. This year’s application is open now through November 12.
The Maritime Aquarium Scholars Program, Powered by Linde is designed to increase undergraduate access to professionals in the field and provide hands-on experience. In addition to financial support, students enrolled in the program will receive mentoring and explore STEM careers related to the Aquarium.
“We’re so excited to partner with Linde in this initiative to expose promising undergraduates to STEM careers at The Maritime Aquarium and in the conservation world more broadly. We know how challenging finances can be for many college students, so we hope this scholarship and the mentoring provided by Aquarium staff will help pave the way for young people passionate about exploring careers that will allow them to participate in our mission to ignite a connection to Long Island Sound and the ocean to enrich the lives of all people and inspire action to protect our blue planet,” said The Maritime Aquarium Vice President of Education Tom Naiman.
“Linde has established a longstanding partnership with the Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk, and we are enthusiastic about providing support to students who are pursuing careers in STEM and environmental sustainability. Through our philanthropy, we aim to enable tomorrow’s marine scientists to contribute to the long-term betterment of our world,” said Linde Senior Global Giving Program Manager Jennifer Torres-Abousaada.
To apply for the program, students must be enrolled in an undergraduate program in Fairfield or Westchester County, studying biology, environmental science, or another related STEM field.
Students selected to participate in the scholarship program will be assigned a mentor and required to spend at least six days at the Aquarium during the academic year. During in-person meetings, scholars will participate in various activities including data collection, community science projects, and professional development.
