The Lafayette adds 130 residential units, 18 affordable units and over 6,000 square feet of commercial space to Stamford’s flourishing East Main Street Neighborhood
Wellbuilt Company Spearheads Urban Park and Mobility Initiatives
Wellbuilt Company, a Greenwich-based, leading real estate developer, is nearing the final construction stages of its latest multifamily community, “The Lafayette,” at 821 East Main Street, Stamford. The company broke ground on this project in November 2022. In 2021, Wellbuilt introduced its progressive approach to creating high-quality, innovative housing with “The Stillwater,” a 45-unit multifamily property in Stamford’s West Side Neighborhood.
The Lafayette, set to open this September, is a modern townhouse design that houses 130 residential units, 18 of which are designated BMR units for qualified low-income families. These units are a mix of open studios and spacious 1–2-bedroom apartments, all equipped with the latest Smart technology, top-of-the-line appliances, and tasteful design aesthetics. The property also features standard amenities available to all tenants, such as building-wide free internet, a club room, fitness center, and a massive 9000 sq ft roof with kids’ play area, outdoor kitchen, BBQs, TVs, a sun deck, green walls, gardens, and a proposed childcare center, all of which provide a comfortable and convenient living experience.

A vital component of Wellbuilt’s portfolio growth is its initiative to redevelop and activate urban spaces that not only surround its buildings but also connect neighborhoods and give safe, equitable access to public transport, parks, businesses, and other local resources. The company continues to spearhead these beautification and livability efforts, working closely with the City of Stamford, the Eastside Partnership, and other local organizations. Most notable is the recent formation of the Stamford Parks Community Partnership, of which Wellbuilt is a founding corporate sponsor and serves on the Board of Directors. Current “close to home” projects include the East Side Urban Park concept under the I-95 overpass on North State Street adjacent to The Lafayette. The concept aims to create a public space that houses elements of the city’s vibrant arts scene and can be used for leisure activities and city events. Wellbuilt has been actively advocating for cleaning up the area and activating it as a public space for the community to enjoy. Other initiatives include The East Side Greenway Connector, which is a mobility concept for a multi-use bicycle/pedestrian trail connecting the East Side neighborhood to the heart of Downtown, the Stamford Transportation Center, and the Mill River Greenway, which are currently in discussion.
