Downtown NHV (Town Green District) is excited to announce the first ever Downtown NHV Tree Farm, launching this week on Black Friday!

This week will kick off the Downtown NHV Tree Farm, a New Haven event series and amenity for residents and visitors to downtown alike. Partnering with CITA Park who occupies the lot at the corner of Chapel & Orange Streets, the Tree Farm will be more than just a tree-shopping experience. All are invited to visit to additionally enjoy warm adult and kid-friendly beverages, a cozy fire pit, holiday photo opportunities, and last but certainly not least – the introduction of The Bell, a 20ft tent where free crafts will be provided to all who crawl inside.

This event series launch comes with much anticipation from Town Green District staff. Director of Marketing & Events, Francesca Vignola enthuses, “This event concept in particular has been many years in the making after recognizing that access to live trees is just not there for city residents, particularly those without vehicles. We are thrilled to fill that need this year, and additionally welcome all folks who may not want a tree but do want to craft, hang out, sip a warm beverage, and just enjoy being downtown!” She adds, “purchasing your tree at the Downtown NHV Tree Farm is not only convenient, but directly supports downtown’s independently-owned and run retail shops through a city-supported gift card giveaway – every tree purchase comes with a $35 gift card!”

TGD’s mission to support downtown businesses is supplemented by an event partnership with the City of New Haven’s Department of Economic Development who are sponsoring gift cards to independently-owned retail shops that will be given with every tree purchase while funding lasts!

CITA Park, opened in spring 2024 at this corner lot space, reopens for this event partnership! While operating as a tree farm, CITA is a family-friendly, all ages space. 21+ guests will be ID-checked and wristbands at the bar.

This event is family-friendly, (leashed) pet-friendly, and an inclusive space for all. FREE to enter. Trees, tree accessories, and beveraegs available for purchase. Must be 21+ with ID to purchase and consume alcohol. No BYOB permitted. Gift cards randomly selected. Event schedule may change due to weather; announcements will be posted on event website
