“We are delighted to have Craig Nelson, an experienced field archaeologist and expert in local indigenous history, as a guest on our speaker series,” stated Brian Hagenbuch, Executive Director of Steep Rock Association. “Nelson will discuss the early archaeological history of the Washington, Shepaug, and Lake Waramaug area, covering approximately 12,000 years, spanning the Paleo period through the Archaic and into the Late Woodland periods.” The presentation will focus on artifacts and information discovered to date, along with ongoing and future research.
