Six-time Tony winner Audra McDonald brings solo concert to Westport

Westport Country Playhouse will host “An Evening with Audra McDonald” on Tuesday, May 19, featuring the Emmy, Grammy, and record-breaking Tony Award-winning artist.

The 7 p.m. performance showcases McDonald’s versatility as both a singer and actor. McDonald has achieved historic success on Broadway, winning Tony Awards for six different roles and most recently receiving her 11th nomination for the production of Gypsy. Her concert career includes the Grammy-winning album Sing Happy, recorded live with the New York Philharmonic.

McDonald will be joined by pianist Andy Einhorn, who has served as her music director since 2011. Einhorn’s Broadway credits include conducting Hello, Dolly! and Carousel, as well as serving as music supervisor for the recent revival of Gypsy.

A prominent advocate for LGBTQIA+ rights and an activist for various organizations, McDonald was awarded the National Medal of Arts in 2015.

Tickets are available for $150 and $200. The Westport Country Playhouse is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization located in Westport. Detailed information regarding the performance and tickets can be found on the playhouse website.
