A Community Gatering & Concert Celebrating Zaccai & Luques Curtis
Real Art Ways, in partnership with the Greater Hartford Arts Council, Hartford Jazz Society, Greater Hartford Festival of Jazz, Artists Collective, WWUH, Jackie McLean Institute at The Hartt School and Hartford Public Library, will host a community gathering and concert to celebrate a 2025 GRAMMY win for the Curtis Brothers’ Cubop Lives!, an album that masterfully fuses the rhythmic heritage of Afro-Cuban jazz with modern Latin jazz influences. This event will be held on Saturday, March 15, from 7:00 – 10:00 pm. Real Art Ways is located at 56 Arbor Street in Hartford, CT 06106.
Cubop Lives!, produced by Truth Revolution Recording Collective, released in May 2024, features an exceptional ensemble of musicians including
brothers Zaccai and Luques Curtis, Willie Martinez, Camilo Molina and Reinaldo De Jesus. The album captures the vibrant energy and intricate craftsmanship that define Zaccai’s musical vision. The GRAMMY recognizes Zaccai’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of Latin jazz and his commitment to preserving its rich traditions.
Cubop Lives! won the Best Latin Jazz Album award during the February 2nd GRAMMY ceremony in Los Angeles. The Curtis brothers, Zaccai and Luques, grew up in Windsor, Connecticut, and have performed at Real Art Ways since the 1990s.
