Creative Cocktail Hour
Real Art Ways presents its monthly social event, CCH on Thursday, January 18, 6-10pm. Creative Cocktail Hour is a celebration of creativity and community. Everyone is welcome. Held on the third Thursday of every month at Real Art Ways. 56 Arbor Street, Hartford, Connecticut.
In January, Creative Cocktail Hour will feature a creative mix of musicians, artists and exhibitions, and things to do, including:
- Music from DJ Kasey Cortez, a multidisciplinary artist currently working in music, theatre, photography, design, fashion, & installation art.
- Tarot and palm readings from Adam Latin.
- Food and beverages (food truck to be announced).
- Hands-on art making activities for young and old alike, inspired by the current exhibitions in the galleries.
- Visitors will experience three current exhibitions, and one opening:
- Exhibition Opening from RJ LaRussa. Videos that specialize in story-focused projects across narrative, music video, and commercial work.
- Langit Lupa (Heaven and Earth) by Bhen Alan. This exhibition spotlights the banig – an incredible Filipino indigenous mat. Bhen Alan is the recipient of a 2022 Real Art Award.
- UNKNOWN UNKNOWNS by Steven DiGiovanni. Paintings based on DiGiovanni’s photographs of his neighborhood growing up in Westville, New Haven, and based on forensic photographs taken in Nagoya and Tokyo, Japan.
- Tubular Times: Camp, Horror, and Music Television: Video Art 1981-1993 curated by Terri C. Smith, a group exhibition that features significant video art made from 1981-1993. Exhibiting artists include Peggy Ahwesh, Max Almy, Ericka Beckman, Dara Birnbaum, Cecelia Condit, Cecilia Dougherty, Ulysses Jenkins, Nam June Paik, Ann Magnuson, Pipilotti Rist, Willie Stewart and Michael Smith.
Tickets for Creative Cocktail Hour are $15 general admission, free for Real Art Ways members. Tickets can be purchased online or at the door.
