Jamaican reggae artist Protoje will perform at the Webster Theatre on May 2 as part of an international tour supporting his upcoming studio album, The Art of Acceptance.

The album, Protoje’s seventh full-length release, is scheduled to arrive April 17 via In.Digg.Nation Collective and Ineffable Records. In advance of the release, the artist has unveiled the project’s cover art, track list, and a global run of tour dates that includes the Hartford stop.

The Art of Acceptance follows Protoje’s 2022 Grammy-nominated album, Third Time’s The Charm. The new record was produced by longtime collaborator Winta James and features a predominantly Caribbean lineup of guest artists, including Shenseea, Masicka, Jesse Royal, Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley, Stephen Marley, and Pressure Busspipe of the U.S. Virgin Islands.

In recent months, Protoje released three singles from the forthcoming album — “At We Feet” featuring Damian Marley, “BIG 45”, and “Feel It” — offering an early look at a project that blends traditional reggae influences with contemporary production.

Protoje described the album as both personal and reflective.

“‘The Art of Acceptance’ isn’t just about peace — it’s about the raw, sometimes painful work of facing yourself fully, embracing the parts you might want to hide, and then radiating from that wholeness,” he said in a statement. “The sounds came out beyond our expectations — a proper mixture of innovation and homage to our roots.”

James, who first collaborated with Protoje more than a decade ago, said the album reflects the artist’s evolution while drawing on reggae traditions.

“It’s an amalgamation of the sounds that inspired us over the years — from updated acoustic traditional reggae to the digital reggae revolution of the late ’80s and early ’90s, with a sprinkling of hip-hop-inspired grooves,” James said.

The May 2 concert at the Webster Theatre is part of a broader international tour in support of the album. Ticket information is available through the venue.
