The Barnum Museum
Bridgeport • Fairfield County • Historic Places • Museums
The Barnum Museum in Downtown Bridgeport, Connecticut is the last surviving building attributed to the American visionary, P.T. Barnum (1810-1891), and was designated a National Historic Landmark by the National Park Service and Dept. of the Interior in 2023. The building is currently under-going a multi-million dollar restoration/renovation that is expected to last through 2025. During this construction period, the Museum has an active YouTube Channel with over 200 programs for all to enjoy!
When completed, the revived and re-imagined Barnum will be a new kind of Museum designed for 21st century museum-goers. Engaging the most powerful stories of Barnum’s 19th century America, the guest experience will be an immersive, cinematic, and story-driven experience, transforming and expand perceptions of Barnum from showman to a complex thinker, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and a timeless role model for the power and strength of the indomitable human spirit.
