Pirate Days returns to Mystic Seaport Museum with family activities in April

Mystic Seaport Museum will host its annual Pirate Days celebration April 16–17, transforming the waterfront campus into a pirate-themed destination for families during spring break.
The two-day event, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, will feature a variety of outdoor and indoor activities, including an all-new treasure hunt, live musical performances, games, and interactive experiences designed for visitors of all ages.
Children and families can follow clues throughout the seaport village in search of hidden treasure, meet costumed pirates, and take part in activities such as cannon firing drills, pirate crafts, and storytelling sessions. A pirate parade around the Village Green and themed competitions, including “Pirate Olympics,” are also planned.

Additional programming includes planetarium shows titled “Spring Stars and the PIRATES!” at the Treworgy Planetarium, along with hands-on activities at locations across the museum grounds. Visitors are encouraged to dress in pirate attire to join the festivities.
The event coincides with the museum’s exhibition Brickwrecks: Sunken Ships in LEGO® Bricks, offering another attraction for families visiting during the school vacation period.
Admission to Pirate Days is free for members and included with general admission for non-members. An optional pirate kit, which includes treasure hunt materials and themed accessories, is available for an additional fee, with complimentary access for members. Click here to purchase tickets.
Organizers said the event is designed to be accessible for all guests, with a designated quiet space available in the Bartram Building featuring sensory-friendly activities. Food and beverages will be available on-site at dining locations throughout the museum.
Pirate Days will take place rain or shine, with activities spread across the museum’s historic grounds.
