The Prom Open Auditions
The Ridgefield Theater Barn is thrilled to be remounting their production of The Prom, long delayed by construction, with a talented returning cast and are seeking fresh faces to complete the team! For this inclusive, boundary-challenging, thought-provoking, incredibly timely, contemporary musical comedy, the production team seek a diverse, open-minded, and honest cast of performers. Members of the LGBTQ+ community are strongly encouraged to audition.
Auditions for open roles will take place Monday, May 13th and Tuesday, May 14th at 7:30. The musical, which was originally written by Bob Martin and Chad Beguelin, with music by Matthew Sklar and lyrics by Chad Beguelin, based on the original concept by Jack Viertel, will be directed by Deb Failla, with musical direction by John Failla, and choreography by Bonnie Gregson. Performances will take place Friday and Saturday evenings from September 6th to the 28th at 8pm, with Sunday matinees September 15th and 22nd at 5pm. Rehearsals are slated to begin mid-June.
When the PTA from Edgewater, Indiana, cancels the senior prom to block a lesbian student from bringing her date, four New York stars in search of a cause swoop in to save the day. This new musical comedy is “so filled with happiness that you think your heart is about to burst” (Variety).
Auditioners should bring their resume, headshot, and sheet music for 32 measures of a song to share. Comfortable dress is suggested for the choreography portion of the audition. More information, including a cast breakdown of open roles, can be found here.
