O.A.R. to bring their rock, pop and alternative blend to Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater this Sunday
Of a Revolution (O.A.R.), a Rockville Maryland quintet, offers a unique blend of alternative, pop, and rock since 1996. The lineup is comprised of Marc Roberge (lead vocals and guitar), Richard On (lead guitar and backing vocals), Chris Culos (drums), Benj Gershman (bassist), and Jerry DePizzo (saxophone, guitar, and backing vocals).Â
They stand out from typical bands by relying heavily on word-of-mouth and touring to build their audience, ultimately resulting in success. Their third album, Risen, debuted at No. 11, and their fourth album, In Between Now and Then, at No. 156 on the Billboard 200 chart. After receiving multiple offers from major labels, O.A.R. ultimately chose to sign with Lava Records in 2002.
Stories of a Stranger was a commercial success upon its release in 2005, reaching No. 40 on the Billboard 200. It spawned the hit singles Love and Memories, Heard the World, and Lay Down, the latter of which earned a Woodie award from MTV for its streaming video. The album’s singles received significant radio airplay, with Love and Memories peaking at 98 in the Pop 100, 30 on Modern Rock Tracks, and 18 in Adult Top 40.
All Sides O.A.R.’s sixth studio album was released on July 15, 2008. Featuring the popular single Shattered (Turn the Car Around), the album saw great success and shot up to 2 in Adult Top 40. Its captivating music video was even named one of the Top 40 Videos of 2008 by VH1.
O.A.R.’s seventh studio album, King, debuted at #12 on the Billboard 200, their highest-charting release to date. Released in 2011, the album includes fan favorites like Over and Over, Fire, and Heaven as its lead single. In 2012, O.A.R. collaborated with Duracell to create a new single, Champions, featuring rapper B.o.B, in support of Team USA for the 2012 London Summer Olympics.
The band enjoyed massive success with The Mighty, the ninth studio album released in 2019. With known singles such as Miss You All the Time and In The Clouds. Now, their tenth studio album, The Arcade, provides a powerful new sound with singles like Alive, which has earned them numerous accolades.
For sure the band will play their classics like Hey Girl and Crazy Game of Poker. It’s possible they will give the locals a little shout-out by playing Black Rock. The song is not about the neighborhood in Bridgeport but hearing it might get a reaction from the crowd.
O.A.R. is touring with the Goo Goo Dolls this summer and are performing at the Hartford Healthcare Amphitheater in Bridgeport this Sunday. Click here to purchase tickets.
