Norwalk Symphony’s Holiday Pops is December 3rd

“Our Holiday Pops Concert is a perennial favorite offering a delightful mélange of musical treasures,” says Jonathan Yates, Norwalk Symphony’s Music Director. “This year, we are presenting an especially joyous mix of Classical and Pops, everything from Handel, Mozart and Bizet to Leroy Anderson, Mel Torme and Meredith Willson.”
The concert opens with the Farandole from L’Arlesienne Suite by Bizet and with Ralph Vaughan Williams’ “Fantasia on Greensleeves.” Mezzo Soprano Wendy Gerbier returns to lend the warmth and richness of her voice to “He shall feed his flock,” from Messiah, and carols “O Holy Night” and “Gesu Bambino.”
Young students from the Norwalk Conservatory of the Arts will lead us in singing beloved holiday Pops Songs. Then there’s “Carol of the Bells” by Ukrainian composer Mykola Leontovych and “Festival Sounds of Hanukah” by Bill Holcombe.
Finally, as per our Holiday tradition, we ask everyone – singers, orchestra, and audience – to join in Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus.”
Join us for a “pre-concert” performance in the lobby by students from Project Music in Stamford.
Another tradition is that we ask everyone to bring non-perishable food for the Food Pantry at the Connecticut State Community College in Norwalk (formerly Norwalk Community College).
Norwalk Concert Hall at 125 East Avenue. Individual tickets, which range from $10 for students and children, and $25, $37.50, and $50 for adults, can be purchased online at the Symphony’s website www.norwalksymphony.org or by calling the NSO office at 203 956-6771.
