New England Ballet Theatre of Connecticut announces 2023 -2024 season
New England Ballet Theatre’s fourth season and the first in their new studio will start in a few weeks. The upcoming 2023-2024 season will showcase a range of performances including classical reinterpretations, original story ballets, and mixed repertoire productions.
New England Ballet Theatre is partnering with GreenStage Guilford performing arts festival for their first performance of the 2023-2024 season. The performance will include mixed bill selections from last season’s “Director’s Choice” featuring Company Artists, Apprentices, and Professional Program dancers. If you missed the New York performance or loved it and want to see it again, you have another opportunity to see these works on September 22 in Guilford, CT.
On October 21 and 22, join New England Ballet. Theatre at the Wadsworth Atheneum for “The Red Shoes,” Artistic & Executive Director Rachael Gnatowski’s take on this classic ballet film, reinterperetted as a full length classical ballet. This slightly haunting performance will intrigue all members of the family and get you in the spirit for Halloween.
“The Fantastic Toyshop,” New England Ballet Theatre’s original holiday production, will return to the Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts theater on December 2 and 3. This family-friendly ballet provides students of The School of NEBT the opportunity to dance with the professional company and is the perfect way to start the holiday season for all audiences.
New England Ballet Theatre’s gala production “Lovestruck” will feature a variety of short original works choreographed by NEBT Company dancers performed in their new studio facility, providing an intimate and informal experience perfect for Valentine’s or Galentine’s Day.
New England Ballet Theatre will perform at Ailey Citigroup Theater in NYC on April 7 and at Wadsworth Atheneum for Hartford area audiences on March 23. Guest choreographers from across the country will work with NEBT Company dancers to premier this mixed bill production.
The School of New England Ballet Theatre’s last production of the season will be “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” in May. The students will perform alongside the company in this traditional story ballet, with Gnatowski’s unique take on the Shakespearean story set to the iconic score by Felix Mendelssohn.
Open House
Join New England Ballet Theatre’s Open House on August 26 from 12:30 pm – 4 pm . Free trial classes offered in Creative Movement (ages 3-5) and Early Ballet (ages 6-9). Auditions for Pre-Professional or Trainee programs for dancers age 8 and up.
