Metallica to play Mohegan Sun Arena for venue’s 25th anniversary

Metallica will make its debut at Mohegan Sun Arena this November, performing two shows to headline the venue’s 25th anniversary celebration.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Famers are scheduled to perform Thursday, Nov. 19, and Saturday, Nov. 21. The dates mark the band’s first appearances in Connecticut since 1998 and will be their only Northeast performances of 2026.

The concerts will follow the band’s “No Repeat Weekend” format, featuring two entirely different setlists and different opening acts for each night. Suicidal Tendencies will open the Thursday show, while Spiritbox will join the band for the Saturday performance. Both shows begin at 8 p.m.

“Metallica’s first-ever performance at Mohegan Sun Arena is a truly special moment as we celebrate the venue’s 25th anniversary,” said Jeff Hamilton, president and general manager of Mohegan Sun. “We couldn’t be more excited to honor that legacy by welcoming one of the most iconic rock bands ever.”

The 10,000-seat arena opened in the fall of 2001 and has since hosted more than 3,000 events.

Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, April 10, at 10 a.m. ET through Ticketmaster. A two-day ticket package will be available for fans planning to attend both shows.

Pre-sales for Metallica Fan Club members begin Wednesday, April 8, followed by Live Nation and Mohegan Sun pre-sales on Thursday, April 9. Any remaining tickets will be available at the Mohegan Sun Box Office starting April 11.

Formed in 1981, Metallica has sold nearly 125 million albums worldwide. The group recently announced a sold-out residency at Sphere in Las Vegas and continues to support its Grammy-winning 2023 album, “72 Seasons.”

Beyond the music, the band’s All Within My Hands foundation has raised more than $29 million since 2017 to fund career education and disaster relief.
