Lyme Art Association announced three new summer gallery exhibitions

The Lyme Art Association has announced three concurrent gallery exhibitions scheduled to run from July 24 through September 11, 2026. The summer lineup features the association’s 105th annual Elected Artists show alongside a multi-style exhibition titled Expanding Visions. The galleries will also host a guest installation titled Selected Members Exhibition, organized by the New Haven Paint and Clay Club.
The Elected Artists exhibition highlights a specific tier of membership composed of individuals who have successfully displayed their work in gallery shows for at least five years before being elected by their peers. The accompanying Expanding Visions show departs from the venue’s traditional focus on traditional representational art. This display highlights a broader range of artistic techniques from member artists, spanning from hyperrealism to nonrepresentational abstract art.
The concurrent guest exhibition from the New Haven Paint and Clay Club was selected by juror Nathan Lewis. Lewis curated the presentation by selecting five specific artists who demonstrated exceptional work during the club’s 2025 members showcase. The selected creators featured in this segment are Ed Lisi, Christopher McLaughlin, David Ottenstein, Greg Shea, and Janet Warner.

An official opening reception for all three seasonal exhibitions has been announced for Saturday, August 1, 2026. The public gathering will take place inside the main galleries from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The hosting association was originally established in 1914 by American Impressionist artists to exhibit and sell representational artwork while providing community lectures and local instructional classes.
The association operates out of its historic 1921 facility located at 90 Lyme Street in Old Lyme, which was designed by architect Charles Adams Platt and sits on the National Register of Historic Places. General admission to the gallery building and the summer exhibitions is free for all visitors. The physical galleries are open to the public weekly from Tuesday through Sunday between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
