Tree Collective – Teen Hike and Steward Group Meet-up

The Tree Collective is a program that engages young conservationists aged 14-18 in outdoor activities and education while they work to maintain trails in Lyme, CT. The program is sponsored by the Lyme Land Trust, and it is led by environmentalist and artist, Regan Stacey. Every time the group meets, a different topic is discussed, and a hike and trail work is done in a selected preserve.

Join us for a work party to create a woods trail in Mt. Archer Woods to bypass Mt Archer Road.

Please bring the necessary tools for the morning, including lopping shears, a rake, hand pruners, a hand saw, a power pruner and/or a chain saw, and a weed whacker. Additionally, it is recommended that you wear rugged work gloves, as well as long sleeves and long pants. Don’t forget to bring a bottle of water or other beverage, and snacks will be provided.

Night after Thanskgiving – Hike with Quinn Hartman Park

Join Quinn, a Lyme Land Trust board member, for a family-friendly night hike in Hartman Park. During the hike, we will focus on how our perceptions change and learn to appreciate what the night brings to the forests and ponds of Lyme. Our path will be illuminated by the almost full moon, and we will not be using any artificial light. However, you are welcome to bring an emergency flashlight just in case.

Dress warmly and bring a walking stick.

Jewett Preserve Red Trail
Sunday, November 26 • 1 pm – 4:00 pm
Meet at the cemetery entrance to Jewett Preserve on Mt. Archer Rd. (across from Eno Preserve)

Join Wendolyn Hill, Vice President of Lyme Land Trust and Lyme Open Space Coordinator, for a Thanksgiving hike. We will be exploring the stunning red trail at Jewett Preserve, which offers magnificent views of craggy ridges filled with boulders. To complete the loop, we will return on alternate trails in Johnston Preserve. The walk covers a distance of about 3.5 – 4 miles and includes some moderate hill climbs and rocky terrain. We recommend using walking sticks for added support. The duration of the walk may vary depending on the group’s pace.
 
Snacks will be provided. We will have a snack break. Bring your own water or drink.
