Liberace opens the Music Theatre of Connecticut’s annual summer performance series
Music Theatre of Connecticut (MTC), Fairfield County’s professional award-winning theatre announces the return of its summer performance series, MTC’s Hot Summer Nights. As audiences await the start of the 37th MainStage Season in September, which opens with the
Tony Award-winning musical, Jersey Boys, MTC is here to keep you entertained until then with award-winning local, NYC, and Broadway talent. The first performance on Saturday, June 24th at 8:00pm is David Maiocco as Liberace in Rhapsody of Red, White, and Blue.
Multi-award-winning pianist/actor David Maiocco returns to MTC in a delightfully beautiful tribute to “The Best Dressed Man in Show Business” – Mr. Showmanship, Liberace! With music from Chopin to Chopsticks, Gershwin greats, and everything in between, this show features flashy couture and dazzling piano playing. Liberace is alive and well and trying to
make his way through the Instagram Era at 103 years old – plus tax. Come delight in the great memories, magic, music, and comedy of Liberace while he makes new memories with you!
As one of the most well-recognized Liberace tribute artists, David Maiocco brings to the
stage a vivid portrayal of the star’s life of flamboyance, sparkle, and lavish costumes.
David’s work in cabaret earned him the 2017 Bistro Award for Outstanding Musical Comedy
Duo along with Chuck Sweeney for Lee Squared – an Evening with Liberace and Miss Peggy
Lee. In addition to his inspiring Liberace performance, David has traveled globally playing
for some of the most iconic legends of all time. For 14 years he played the piano and the
role of Mort Lindsay in Judy Garland Live! starring Tommy Femia, served as musical director
for Carol Channing and Friends with Richard Skipper, and more! There’ll be more feathers
and sequins to delight your eyes, as you tap your toes to a fun throwback to a somehow
simpler yet more glamorous era!
Our Next Hot Summer Nights performance on July 8th is titled “An Evening with Frank
Mastrone – Including a Tribute to Bacharach”. After that in our fantastic lineup of performers
is Sue Matsuki on July 15th, in her show “The Jazz Gals Who Make Me Sing” followed by
MTC’s first Treehouse Comedy Night on July 29th. The final performance in the series on
August 5th is Mia Scarpa’s Just Judy, a tribute show to the legendary Judy Garland. You
don’t want to miss these great performances!
Tickets are $40-$50 plus a $5 per ticket service fee for most performances. Treehouse
Comedy Night tickets are $35 plus a $10 service & drink fee, which provides one
complimentary drink ticket per patron. Tickets can be bought by clicking here
