Lake Compounce (185 Enterprise Dr, Bristol, CT 06010), recognized as the nation’s oldest continuously operating amusement park, will celebrate its 180th anniversary season in 2026 with new attractions, ride upgrades, and expanded events.

The park is set to reopen at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 9. To commemorate the milestone, the first 180 guests through the gates on opening day will receive a limited-edition coin.

Park officials say the 2026 season will feature enhancements across rides, dining, and entertainment, along with the debut of a new on-site history museum. Located near the Down Time ride, the walk-through exhibit will showcase photos, memorabilia, and artifacts highlighting generations of visitors and the park’s long-standing legacy.

Among the ride updates, the historic Wildcat roller coaster — originally opened in 1927 — returns following a full retrack completed in partnership with Gravity Group. A second train has been added, which is expected to reduce wait times. Meanwhile, the award-winning Boulder Dash coaster continues to undergo improvements, with an additional 500 feet of Titan Track installed during the offseason. The multi-year project now totals more than 1,700 feet of steel track, designed to improve ride smoothness while maintaining the coaster’s terrain-driven layout.

The park will also introduce refreshed food and beverage offerings, including chef-inspired menu items such as salads, wraps, flatbread pizzas, and mac and cheese bowls, along with new desserts like a fried Oreo sundae. The Little Daredevils children’s ride has also been repainted in honor of the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary.

A new seasonal event, “All-American Summer,” will run from early July through late August, featuring weekly fireworks, drone shows, and themed food and beverage options. Fireworks are scheduled for Saturday nights between July 3 and Aug. 15.

Returning events include Kids Fest, which will take place on weekends in June and feature appearances by children’s characters including Blippi, Spookley the Square Pumpkin, and characters from “Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood.” The season will conclude with the fifth annual Phantom Fall Fest, scheduled for select dates from Sept. 19 through Nov. 1.

“Reaching 180 years is an incredible milestone, and it speaks to the generations of families who have made Lake Compounce part of their traditions,” said General Manager Doug Hemphill in a statement. “As we celebrate this historic season, we’re proud to honor our past while continuing to add new experiences.”

Season passes are currently on sale, with promotional pricing available ahead of opening day.
