Keeler Tavern Museum to honor local restaurateurs at annual Cannonball Gala

KTM&HC’s 32nd annual Cannonball Gala will honor Sarah and Bernard Bouïssou

The Keeler Tavern Museum & History Center (KTM&HC) will honor Sarah and Bernard Bouïssou for their decades of community service at the annual Cannonball Gala on May 1.

The event, which serves as a primary fundraiser for the museum’s preservation and educational missions, recognizes the Bouïssous for their 26-year impact on the Ridgefield area. The couple, known for their former restaurant, Bernard’s, and their current venture, À Table, have supported numerous local arts organizations and nonprofits.

“The Bouïssous have been stalwart partners with KTM&HC for many years,” said Hildegard Grob, the museum’s executive director. “Their culinary contributions and unmatched hospitality have elevated our exhibitions, events, and gatherings.”

Bernard Bouïssou, a native of France, began his career at age 13 and later worked at New York City’s Le Cirque under Daniel Boulud. Sarah Bouïssou refined her skills in France before becoming the first female line cook at Le Cirque, where the couple met.

The gala will include cocktails, dinner, and both silent and live auctions. Featured auction items include a one-of-a-kind quilt created by actor Harvey Fierstein. For the first time, the museum will open its silent auction to remote bidders starting April 24, with proxy bidding available for live items.

Proceeds from the evening and the auctions will support the museum’s site and collections. The evening will conclude with a “Cannonball Afterparty” featuring DJ Miles Elliot.
