JVK announces debut album, plans New Haven tour stop at Cafe Nine

Boston-based heavy pop band JVK will bring its high-energy live show to Connecticut this spring with a May 2 performance at Cafe Nine.

The concert is part of the group’s upcoming tour supporting its debut album Pop Culture Affair, set for release March 20. The band recently announced the album alongside the release of its new single Machine, which is accompanied by a music video.

“Machine” blends pulsing synth-pop rhythms with hard rock guitar and pointed social commentary, reflecting the band’s mix of glossy pop production and gritty rock energy.

Founded in 2022 by frontwoman Jo Krieger, the project began as a hard rock act performing in basements, dive bars and nightclubs across New England. The lineup has since expanded to include Atticus Crowley, Kay Kwiatek, Liv Barcohana and Zach Feinstein.

Emerging from Boston’s DIY music scene, JVK has developed a reputation for chaotic, theatrical live performances and empowering lyrics paired with genre-blending arrangements.

In recent years, the band has performed at major festivals including Louder Than Life in 2023 and Boston Calling in 2024. The group has also completed four nationwide tours, made multiple radio and television appearances and earned six nominations across the Boston and New England Music Awards.

The upcoming album marks the band’s first full-length release following two EPs and is positioned as a defining moment for the group as it continues to expand its audience.
