Ion Bank Cheshire Road Race to host the CT ½ Marathon Championship
The Cheshire Road Race is honored to announce that it has been selected as the host for the 2025 USATF Connecticut Half Marathon Championship. This prestigious designation will bring together the most elite runners from across the state to compete for the coveted championship title. The half marathon course offers a fast and competitive route, winding through the scenic towns of Cheshire and Hamden, with key stretches along the historic Farmington Canal Trail. Known for its flat terrain and picturesque surroundings, the course provides an ideal setting for athletes seeking personal bests and championship glory.
Event coordinators are excited to welcome nearly 2,000 participants on Sunday, April 13, for the highly anticipated return of Cheshire’s largest community event—the 13th Annual Ion Bank Cheshire Road Race. The event features a half marathon, 5K, and Kids Fun Run, all taking place at Cheshire High School. Whether you’re racing or cheering on friends and family, everyone is encouraged to arrive early and stay late to enjoy the Healthy Living Festival. There will be fun family activities and dozens of vendors offering health, nutrition, and medical services. After crossing the finish line, participants can join in the post-race festivities with fresh pizza from Big Green Truck Pizza, sandwiches, fruit, snacks, beverages, live music, an awards ceremony, and more.
The Cheshire Half Marathon & 5K Foundation is a non-profit organization that donates nearly $100,000 to a number of local organizations annually. The majority of race proceeds benefit Abilities Without Boundaries, Best Buddies CT, and Cheshire Lions Club. Abilities Without Boundaries and Best Buddies CT are non-profit organizations dedicated to helping children and adults with developmental and physical disabilities. The Cheshire Lions Club serves as a fundraiser for the Cheshire community, donating over $20,000 to the community annually. The race also donates funds raised to numerous other community organizations in Cheshire.
The event will again present the John Bysiewicz Award to an outstanding individual that demonstrates courage and determination facing adversity and serves as an inspiration to others.

The Ion Bank Cheshire Road Race is organized by the Cheshire Half Marathon Foundation Board of Directors. The board is comprised of nearly 20 members with varying backgrounds from the local community. Along with the race committee, JB Sports, coordinator of the Athletic Brewing Company Fairfield Road Races and the Faxon Law New Haven Road Races, is organizing the event.
