Jason Mraz is a rainbow of inspiration from his happy go lucky attitude, his optimistic lyrics mixed feel good rhythms, and has taken his fans down a “Mystical Magical Rhythmical Radical Ride” since 2002. “Getting Started” in 2002 with his first single hit the mainstream radio airwaves, “The Remedy (I Won’t Worry)”. Little did we know then this was the first of many songs that had us thinking “I Feel Like Dancing” when his songs are played.

The album “Mystical Magical Rhythmical Radical Ride” embodies Jason Mraz’s distinctive upbeat sound, known for its feel-good qualities. The track “Pancakes & Butter” serves as a smooth love song, while “Disco Sun” narrates a journey through time. This album encapsulates the emotions and experiences associated with one’s mid-40s.

In other segments of the album, the track “Lovesick Romeo” is regarded as the earliest composition, serving to convey a contemporary notion: the significance of acknowledging “no” as a legitimate response. Additionally, “Feel Good Too” delves into the theme of deriving pleasure from the achievements of others and is characterized by a disco influence, inspired by Mraz’s newfound enthusiasm for roller skating. Moreover, “Irony of Loneliness,” among the album’s more pensive tracks, derives its title and principal lyric from a poem authored by Rupi Kaur, who emerged as another collaborator on the album.

In 2022 Mraz released a complication of his love songs LaLaLa Love Songs includes his classic songs “I’m Yours”, “Lucky” (feat. Colbie Calliat), “Have It All” and more.

What can we expect to see at your Bridgeport show?

I have a very large band. We are all colorful human beings with electrified instruments and gratitude in our hearts. And we just like to have a great time with each other and with the audience to presence the, preciousness of life and the presence, the celebration of his life and to presence our friends and family. And, what, whatever it is, is your meaning in life and what gives you meaning in life. And so my, my goal with a concert is to guide you on a transformational journey from your head into your heart, that over the course of 90 minutes, you’ll be transformed and you’ll want to leave the venue and go and live your dreams and, and be grateful for this human gift that we’ve been given.

With your latest album, Mystical Magical Rhythmical Radical Ride, do you have a favorite lyric that you wrote?

Oh wow, that’s a specific one because there’s so many lyrics inside the album. I’ll go with the last line of the album that says, if you think you’ve seen it all, stick around because we’re just getting started. And that to me is what the whole album is about. Really. I’m half, I’m mid, midway through life, I’d say mid, mid to late 40s. And, and yet I’m still trying to find new experiences and I’m still trying to, to, to enjoy, you know, my youth ’cause if I were to be 20-30 years into the future, I’d look back on today and say, you know, this is, this was a great day. I was young and healthy and full of spirit and ideas and I want to, I don’t want to take that for granted and want to celebrate that. And so this album is really about new beginnings at any point in your life.

You have a favorite project and why? Or do you have a project that gave you a challenge?

Well, I think most projects come with their challenges. And I like that because then those challenges show me how to improve the project or then they help me build in the solutions that are required for the for the project to really stand up to build a strong foundation. Because a project can look very easy on a on a vision board or schematic, but once you actually start building it, it’s a little wobbly. And so I like the problem. So every album comes with its challenges to record. You know, songs sometimes have their challenges because you’re just sometimes waiting for the right idea, the right lyric to land. And you might have to write 100 versions of that phrase or lyric before I you finally see it. So I embrace the challenges. I think they’re a big part of the process.

Was there a moment when you were standing on stage and felt that you’ve this is it I’ve made it

This is it. I mean, it’s happened over and over and over again. I mean, from the earliest days of playing in the coffee shop and just seeing a few people out there listening, I thought, I’m, I’m doing it. I made it like this is it. I’m not in my bedroom alone. I’m not on the sidewalk. I’m actually on a stage and people are here and that experience happens over and over again. And I always think that’s it. It can’t get any better than that. And then I’ll get an invitation to play with the Boston Pops at Tanglewood. And I think, Oh my gosh, like, can I even pull that off? I have no idea, but I’m going to get that experience in the next couple of weeks.

What was your take away with Dancing with the Stars?

I took away nothing. I got no trophy. They sent me home empty handed. I did get to keep my banged up dance shoes, but I took away also a lot of great memories. I took away a new confidence that I that I never had in my just physical being. The ability to stand on stage and wiggle has improved greatly because of the experience.
