Hartford Wolf Pack to retire Brad Smyth’s number 11

The Hartford Wolf Pack have announced that Brad Smyth will have his number 11 retired in an on-ice ceremony prior to the club’s game on Mar. 6, 2027, against the Syracuse Crunch.

Smyth will become the second player in Wolf Pack history to have his number retired, joining teammate Ken Gernander (#12).

“Brad Smyth is an AHL Hall of Famer and one of the greatest players to ever wear a Wolf Pack jersey,” said Erik Hansen, Vice President of Business Operations for the club.

“In addition to being a Calder Cup Champion with the Wolf Pack and holding numerous club records, Smyth is a fan favorite who is beyond deserving of this honor. It’s only fitting that to celebrate 30 seasons of Wolf Pack hockey we raise number 11 to the PeoplesBank Arena rafters.”

Smyth played parts of six seasons with the Wolf Pack, ranking second in games played with 345. He is the franchise’s all-time leader in both goals with 184 and points with 365 (184 g, 181 a). His 181 assists with the Wolf Pack are third all-time in club history.

Additionally, Smyth was a member of the 2000 Calder Cup Champion Wolf Pack team, scoring 23 points (13 g, 10 a) in 23 games during the run.

Smyth ranks 13^th all-time in AHL history in goals with 326 and 33^rd all-time in points with 667 (326 g, 341 a). He won the Willie Marshall Award during the 2000-01 season with the Wolf Pack, leading the league in goals with 50.

Twice as a member of the Wolf Pack, Smyth was named an AHL First Team All-Star (2000-01, 2001-02). He represented the club at the 2001 AHL All-Star Classic.

The native of Ottawa, ON, was named to the AHL Hall of Fame in 2019.
