Hartford Stage announces cast for Native Gardens

Hartford Stage will present Karen Zacarías’s contemporary comedy Native Gardens from April 17 to May 10, 2026, featuring a cast led by Judith Lightfoot Clarke, Alina Collins Maldonado, Bradley Tejeda, and Greg Wood. The production is directed by Nicole A. Watson.

The play is a fast-paced comedy about neighbors, nature, and the tensions that arise when personal boundaries collide. “Native Gardens is a sharp, hilarious comedy with something deeper at its roots,” said Melia Bensussen. “Karen Zacarías uses a classic neighborhood argument to explore culture, class, and the boundaries we draw between each other.”

The production team includes scenic design by Lawrence Moten III, costume design by Ivania Stack, lighting design by Carolina Ortiz Herrera, sound design by Joyce Ciesil, wig and makeup design by Jodi Stone, vocal coaching by Cynthia Santos DeCure, and fight coordination by Michael Rossmy. Casting was handled by Alldaffer & Donadio Casting, with stage management by Gracie Carlton and assistant stage management by Elise Joyner.

Tickets start at $20, with discounted prices for previews April 17-23. Group discounts of 20% are available for parties of 10 or more. Performances include evening shows at 7:30 p.m. and matinees at 2 p.m. Special performances feature post-show discussions, music in the lobby, student matinees, open-captioned, and audio-described shows. Tickets can be purchased at Hartford Stage’s box office or website.

The theater cautions patrons to avoid third-party ticket vendors, warning that fraudulent tickets may be sold at inflated prices. Third-party tickets are not honored.
