Please join the Gunn Museum on Monday February 5 at 6:30 pm for a Zoom presentation on Colonial and Indigenous Cultural Landscapes in CT: The Gungywamp Site by Kevin McBride, Ph.D. Dr. McBride will discuss the significance of cultural landscapes in Connecticut focusing on the Gungywamp site. Gungywamp is one of the more complex and mysterious cultural landscapes in Connecticut. The lecture will also discuss the debate regarding the origins of these landscapes. Kevin McBride
Kevin McBride is an Associate Professor of Anthropology at the University of Connecticut and former Director of Research at the Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center. He has conducted archaeological and historical research in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Block Island as well as Baja Mexico, the Caribbean and Portugal. He has written numerous articles on Colonial-Indigenous conflict and trade, the pre-Contact and ethnohistory of the Indigenous populations in New England, and early Colonial settlement. His research interests include Cultural and Historical Landscapes, pre-Contact Maritime Adaptations, Historical Archaeology, early seventeenth century Native/European trade, and Battlefield Archaeology.
