Glebe House announces Spring 2026 Marshall Children Program focused on 19th century growth and innovation

The Glebe House Museum & The Gertrude Jekyll Garden has announced details for its Spring 2026 Marshall Children After-School Program, titled “Onward to the 19th Century: Growth & Innovation.”

The six-session program will be held March 12 and 26, April 9 and 23, and May 7 and 28. Classes meet on select Thursday afternoons from 4 to 5:30 p.m. and are open to children ages 6 and older.

Designed to immerse participants in post-Revolutionary War life, the program explores how the growth of the new nation and the First Industrial Revolution shaped daily life in Woodbury and beyond. Students will examine the evolution of industry, trade and innovation while building practical skills.

Program highlights include guided tours, where students learn how to lead visitors through the historic Glebe House and its grounds while sharing historical narratives. Participants will also take part in interactive workshops and colonial craft activities, along with museum visits and presentations from guest speakers focused on regional history.

Class themes for the spring session include “Growth & Innovation,” “Great Inventions,” “Woodbury’s Waterways & Trade,” “Hotchkissville: A New Center of Industry,” “Timekeeping: A Turning Point,” and “If I Were an Inventor.”

The Spring 2026 session fee is $125 for members and $150 for non-members and includes six classes and one special event. Space is limited.
