Guided Paddle on the Menunketesuck River
At 10am on Saturday, September 7th, the Long Island Sound Study, in cooperation with the Friends of Stewart B. McKinney National Wildlife Refuge, will sponsor a free guided paddling tour down the peaceful waters of the Menunketesuck River, into Gatchen Creek, and through the national wildlife refuge. The round-trip will be approximately 3.5 miles. Boats are NOT provided – you must bring your own kayak or canoe.
While paddling, participants will be able to explore a salt marsh habitat from the water and observe the abundant wildlife that depends on this unique environment. We’ll have a chance to see osprey, several types of herons, egrets, eagles, terrapins and crabs. Bring binoculars and/or cameras. To sign up click here.
